Student Parents
Becoming a parent doesn’t mean your time in UL must come to an end. There are many resources and allowances available to help you continue your education. To receive benefits such as the One Parent Family Payment, be sure to register with the local Social Welfare office ( 061-414799) as early in your pregnancy as possible.
The Silver Apples Crèche, located near the library, is a modern childcare facility that caters for 48 children. Be aware that there is a long waiting list for places - especially for babies. Not only that, but those 48 places are divided 50:50 staff to students, and those 24 student places are divided 50:50 undergraduates to postgraduates. See www.ul.ie/creche for more information.
The finance section has information on Financial Childcare Assistance.
Student Counselling
If there’s something bothering you that you would like to talk to somebody about, you can call into the Student Counselling Department. They are a team of professionally trained counsellors, keen to help you in any way they can. This CONFIDENTIAL and FREE service is available to you right now. Appointments can be made either by calling in to their "daily drop in" (11am - 12 noon and 3 - 4pm), by phoning them, emailing or by calling down to them at any stage. They look forward to helping you in whatever way they can.
See www.ul.ie/counselling for more information.
Connect
Connect is the new name for the peer mentoring service and we have one very simple aim - to do everything we can to give you the best possible student experience, Students have said in the past that they find it easier to iron out things by talking to other students who have been in the same situation. If you`re new in college it can be hard to find someone in your immediate circle who understands, so we`re here to help. We try match you up with students in a similar situation who might be able to help you out. We interview and sign up students from all kinds of backgrounds and courses and follow a `no problem is too big or too small` ethos, so whatever might be bothering you we hope to find someone who can say `I`ve been there.
See www.ul.ie/connect for more information.
Medical Centre
The Medical Centre is located in the Block C of the Main Building on Level M. It provides a number of free health services to all students.

Chaplaincy
The UL Chaplaincy works to meet the many and varied religious needs of a global university campus. It recognises that life at UL is a dynamic, ever-changing experience, which brings all kinds of new opportunities and challenges to students. The chaplains offer a non-judgemental listening ear and supportive presence to students and staff in times of rejoicing and in times of need as we accompany them on their life`s journey. We promote an open and caring ethos where diversity is respected for people of all faiths and none.
See www.ul.ie/chaplain for more information.
International Education Division
The International Education Division offers advice and information to all UL students wishing to study abroad or to foreign students wishing to study at UL.
See www.ul.ie/internationaleducation for more information.
Co-Operative Education
Cooperative Education gives you the chance to experience a real work environment before you graduate. For many students, the opportunity to do CoOp is an incentive to choose to come to UL over other universities. Your CoOp should help you to make decisions about your future career. It will also allow an employer to see you at work and assess you as a potential employee
See www.ul.ie/careers for more information.
