Safety

While the UL campus may sometimes seem like a self-sufficient village, you have to bear in mind that we are on the edge of an ever-growing city. The university aims to provide a safe environment for you on-campus, but its essential that you take responsibility for your safety on and off campus.

ULSU Safety Advise

  • Never walk home alone. Always arrange to walk home with a friend or a group. If you have no choice but to walk alone, always send a housemate a text to let them know where you are and what time you expect to be home.
  • Take the NiteLink! The NiteLink bus is a free service provided by the Students` Union. The bus leaves the arch near The Paddocks restaurant and services all estates from 6:30-11:30. The timetable will be available on the SU Website, from the Students` Union, on notice boards and in An Focal - there`s no excuse not to take it!
  • Avoid dark areas. Once it starts to get dark, don`t take short cuts. Keep to the main UL pathways that are well lit.
  • Carry only the cash and valuables that you require

If an issue arises...

  • Report all incidents to the Welfare Officer.
  • Contact Campus Security - These are the guys that drive around in the red and white vans. In the event of an emergency or an incident, call the emergency line on 213333.
  • Contact the Community Garda - we also have our own community Garda here on campus where you can report incidents or warn about possible threats.
