Kelly O'Brien - VP/Communications
Kelly O'Brien
Role: Charged with running the Union`s publicity, Kelly controls the media of ULSU. Compiling and Editing the fortnightly student newspaper, An Focal, is one of the main responsibilities of the Communications Officer. As well as this, Kelly looks after this website and all PR for the Union.
Kelly has initiated two major ideas this year, the highly anticipated UL FM student radio station, and a new publication, Cellar Door, aimed at highlighting UL students' skill in poetry and prose.
On top of all this, Kelly is also responsible for all campus advertising and making sure that the Union is visible on campus and for publicising Union activities.
Bio: Born and raised in Kilkenny, Kelly began travelling at a young age. She has lived in New York City where she worked for McAvey Moving Company, and in Glasgow, where she studied Fine Art and Life Drawing.
Kelly has worked in many different areas over the years. Her experience ranges for Enamelling Artist to Art Gallery Attendant, Centra Kilkenny to Centra Chawkes but feels that her new role as Communications Officer is her most interesting and challenging yet.
Kelly graduated from UL with a BA in New Media and English in 2011. She is 22.
