A(H1N1) Notice
posted 16th SepA number of cases of A(H1N1) Influenza have been confirmed at the Student Health Centre. Most are mild cases. There have also been a number of influenza like illnesses which are not Swine Flu. Please see the following information for guidelines on using medical services if you feel unwell or suspect you may have flu or Swine Flu.
- The Student Health Centre is open from 09.00 to 17.00 every weekday and we would ask students only to come and see us if they are unwell.
- After 5 pm students may and should contact the out-of-hours emergency doctor on call for the University by phoning the Student Health Centre. A voicemail will direct you to the number of the doctor on call if you consider yourself to be unwell. You should advise the doctor on call that you are a student at UL. If you have a medical card there will be no charge. There will likewise be no charge if you possess a valid EHIC, either for the consultation or for any prescription that you may require.
- Private patients: Under this arrangement you will be liable only for a discounted fee of €40 to the on call doctor for the use of the service.
- We would urge all patients attending the out-of-hours service to ask the doctor-on-call for a clinical summary of your diagnosis and treatment to then be submitted to Dr.Niall Cahill at the Student Health Centre at your convenience.
