WARNING - Parking tickets issued off campus

posted 18th Nov

Students are being warned that they may have received a number of parking tickets as a result of illegal parking in College Court and Elm Park. Cars parked illegally, i.e., cars parked anywhere except a driveway, are being issued with parking tickets which result in a €75 fine. When fines are issued they go straight on to a computer based system which means that notices are no longer placed on cars. Students who have been parking in College Court and Elm Park during the last month may find that they have incurred a number of fines without their knowledge.

Students who have received a fine will receive a letter for each fine to the address at which the car is registered. If the fine isn’t paid within the required time the student will be summoned to court. In the mean time students are urged to park on a driveway or park elsewhere. Parking tickets are being issued in areas both with and without double yellow lines. This warning is of particular importance to students who don’t live in either estate but are parking there illegally as they can’t get parking in college.

The Students’ Union realises that a number of student houses will only have space for one car on the driveway. Houses with more than one car are urged to park their car on campus in the evenings and get the Nitelink home.
