Union Structure
Non Sabbatical Officers
A number of Non-Sabbatical Officers are also elected each year. The 2011/12 Non-Sabbats will be elected in September and October 2011.
Community Relations Officer (CRO)
The Community Relations Officer is a directly elected officer of the Union. The position exists in response to the fact that UL is located predominately residential area and that form time to time there are problems with student behaviour in these residential areas. The CRO works with the residents committees in order to build a strong link between the University community and the local residents. The CRO sits on the local residents committees, the Executive and the Community Forum, which also includes representatives from the University. The CRO operates from the Office of the President and the VP Campaigns & Services.
Equality Officer
All students in UL are valued, but there are times when specific interests must be considered when making a decision. The Union strives to maximise equality for all students, regardless of race, creed, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability or other personal or academic status. The Equality Officer is directly elected by students, and is responsible for bring forward any issues in order to prevent discrimination or exclusion in the Union’s policies and activities. The Equality Officer Operates from the office of the DP Welfare.
Faculties Officer
The Faculties` Officer Rep is the representative on the SU executive of the four faculty officers, one for each of the University`s faculties (Business, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering and Science and Education and Health Sciences).
Clubs Officer & Societies Officer
The Clubs Officer and Societies Officer are two Clubs & Societies representatives that sit on the SU exec. Both Officers are responsible for bringing issues from the C&S Exec (particularly of interest to campus clubs) to the SU Exec and vice versa.
First Year Rep
The First Year Rep does exactly what it says on the tin - they represent the concerns and issues of all the first year students in UL. The First Year Rep sits on Exec and responsible for bringing first years` issues to the table.
